Our notes on this area
Sultanahmet is where many first-time visitors sleep: small hotels in restored wooden houses around Cankurtaran and Küçük Ayasofya, larger ones along Divanyolu, most within walking distance of Hagia Sophia. Guests here are often sightseeing between clinic appointments, recovering from a long flight, or flagging after a day on their feet in the summer heat. Some come for dental work or a hair transplant elsewhere in the city and choose the old town for the stay.
Several streets near the squares are pedestrian or closed to cars at busy hours, so the nurse may park on Kennedy Avenue or by the tram line and walk the last few minutes. Tell us the hotel name and whether there is a lift, because many old buildings have steep stairs only. Sultanahmet is in the central zone: no visit fee between 07:00 and 22:00, and a €40 night supplement outside those hours. Small hotels value quiet, so the visit is calm and all medical waste leaves with the nurse.

Hagia Sophia
The main landmark; many small hotels sit in the lanes to its south and east.

Northern edge of the district, a short walk from the Gülhane tram stop.
Cankurtaran
Quiet lanes of guesthouses between the Blue Mosque and the sea walls.

Local questions
01Can the nurse find a small guesthouse in the lanes behind the Blue Mosque?
Yes. Send the hotel name and a map pin on WhatsApp. If the car cannot get close, the nurse walks the last stretch, so allow a few extra minutes.
02Is there a visit fee in Sultanahmet?
No. Sultanahmet is in our central zone, so the visit is free from 07:00 to 22:00. Between 22:00 and 07:00 the €40 night supplement applies.
03I had dental implants this week and stay near Hagia Sophia. Can I book a drip?
Possibly. Fill in the health questionnaire and tell us what your dentist did and which medicines you take. The doctor decides, and your clinic’s aftercare instructions come first.
04I feel worn out after a full day of walking in the heat. Will a drip fix that?
Water, food and rest come first. A drip may help some people feel more comfortable sooner, but evidence for wellness drips is limited, and the doctor will tell you if it is not a good idea for you.
